Events[edit]

  • The Bahá’í International Community appoints a representative to the Vienna International Centre, a branch headquarters of the United Nations in Austria.[1]
  • April: Responsibility for administrating the Bahá’í community of Malta is transferred from the National Spiritual Assembly of the United Kingdom to the National Spiritual Assembly of Italy.
  • July: A Native American Council is held in the Wilmette House of Worship gathering Native American Bahá’ís from fifty tribes.[2]
  • July 30: Construction begins on the House of Worship in New Delhi, India.[3]
  • November 26: The Universal House of Justice inaugurates the first five year term for Counsellors, with the position having previously had an undefined term of service.[4]
  • December 18: Construction begins on the House of Worship in Apia, Samoa.[5]
