‘Alí-Akbar Mu‘íní

‘Alí-Akbar Mu‘íní (1924 - May 6, 1980) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.

Biography[edit]

Mu‘íní was born into a Bahá’í family in Sangsar in 1924. He was raised in Sangsar but moved to Tehran for his high school education. After grauating he moved to Semnan where he worked at the Bank-e-Melli and served on the Local Spiritual Assembly. He experienced severe prejudice towards him in Semnan because he was a Bahá’í so his employers transferred him to Tehran.[1]

In 1979 Mu‘íní was imprisoned and held in Evin prison as persecution of Bahá’ís intensified because of the Iranian Revolution. He was executed by firing squad alongside two fellow Bahá’ís on May 6. Their bodies were returned to the families for burial and they were laid to rest in the Tehran Bahá’í cemetery with a large group gathering for their funeral.[2]
