Shikkar-Nisá’ Ma‘súmí

Shikkar-Nisá’ Ma‘súmí (May 24, 1924 - November 23, 1980) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.
Biography[edit]
Ma‘súmí was born into a Bahá’í family in Sikan in 1924. She married Muhammad-Husayn Ma‘súmí and they had children and established a farm in the village of Nuk where they were the only Bahá’í family.[1]
On November 23, 1980, a group of masked men broke into the Ma‘súmí's homes at 10 o'clock at night. Ma‘súmí was kept captive by one man in the house and her husband was murdered outside. She was able to escape when the group returned and attempted to set her on fire and ran to a neighbours property however they refused to help her. She then returned home to attempt to locate her husband and found her husbands remains which had been burnt. She was seen by one of the attackers who struck her over the head.[1]
The next morning Ma‘súmí's son-in-law found her, still alive, and took her to a hospital in Birjand however she remained in a coma until passing six days later. She was buried alongside her husband in Nuk.[1]
