Parvíz Bayání

Parvíz Bayání (July 16, 1945 - July 23, 1980) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.

Bayání was born in Miyandub, Azerbaijan province. He joined the Iranian army and in the mid 1960's he began working as a junior officer at the Piranshahr army barracks. In 1979 he was arrested on charges of teaching the Bahá’í Faith and accused of plotting to capture the barracks with other Bahá’ís and sentenced to two months imprisonment.[1]
In April 1980 the Purge and Reconstruction Board visited the Piranshahr barracks and ordered that Bayání he sent to Urmia to be interrogated. After three days his wife inquired as to his wherabouts and found he had been imprisoned. In July 1980 he was transferred to Evin prison, his family was denied permission to visit him, and he was executed by firing squad on July 23, 1980. His body was released to his family after three days and he was buried in the Bahá’í cemetery of Tehran.[1]
