Ghulám-Husayn A‘zamí

Ghulám-Husayn A‘zamí (1926 - May 6, 1980) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.
Biography[edit]
A‘zamí was born in Sangsar in 1926 where he established a professional career as a farmer and rancher. He was also an active Bahá’í first being elected to the Sangsar Local Spiritual Assembly in 1956 and also being appointed the caretaker of the Sangsar Ḥaẓíratu’l-Quds.[1]
On March 10, 1979 the Sangsar Ḥaẓíratu’l-Quds was attacked by a mob and A‘zamí was arrested. After a brief time in a Sangsar prison he was transferred to Qasr prison in Tehran and his family were not informed of his wherabouts for two months. He was later transferred to Evin prison where he was executed by firing squad alongside two fellow Bahá’íson May 6, 1980. They were buried in the Bahá’í cemetery of Tehran with a large gathering for their funeral.[1]
