Muhammad Akbarí

Muhammad Dadash-Akbarí (1935 - July 16, 1980) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.
Biography[edit]
Akbarí was born in Tarum in the province of Zanjan in 1935. In his professional career he became the owner of a bakery in Langarud. In his personal life he married and had five children.[1]
In 1974 Akbarí became a Bahá’í which resulted in many people refusing to continue shopping at his bakery and when the Revolution began in 1979 his business was confiscated and he was advised to leave the area by the authorities. He moved to Saveh where he completed a plumbing apprenticeship and began working as a plumber.[1]
Akbarí visited Rasht in 1979 and during his visit he was in a minor car accident with a Revolutionary Guard driving the other vehicle. He was arrested immediately after registering the incident at a Revolutionary Committee office and executed at the Rasht Navy Base on July 16, 1980. He wrote an affirmation that he was a Bahá’í including a request he be buried with a Bahá’í ceremony shortly before his execution.[1]
