History[edit]

The Continental Board of Australasia was one of eleven Boards formed in 1968 for the purpose of fulfilling the functions of the Hands of the Cause indefinitely, as no new Hands could be appointed. Counsellors appointed to the Board did not have defined terms of service until 1980, when the Universal House of Justice began appointing Counsellors for five year terms.[1]

The Board called a conference held in Auckland, New Zealand, from November 14 to 17, 1969,[2] and another held in Melbourne, Australia, from November 21 to 23, 1969.[3]
