Violet Hoehnke (1916 - June 4, 2004) was a Knight of Bahá’u’lláh named for pioneering to the Admiralty Islands in 1954. Shortly after her arrival she was transfered by the hospital she worked for to the island of New Britain, now a part of Papua New Guinea. During her 50 years in Papua New Guinea the community grew to 252 Local Assemblies and thousands of Bahá’ís living in over 3000 villages in all 19 provinces of the country.
In 1973 she was appointed as a member of the Continental Board of Counsellors, a position she served in until 1980.
