Lauretta King is an American Bahá’í who served as an Auxiliary Board member and Counselor for the Americas and as a member of the International Teaching Center.

Background[edit]

King is from Sitka, Alaska, and of the Tlingit people. She became a Bahá’í in Tacoma in 1961 and after declaring she served on the Bahá’í Indian Council, a District Teaching Committee, and several Local Spiritual Assemblies, made two teaching trips to Canada, and went on pilgrimage in 1969.

She later returned to Alaska and served on the National Teaching Committee there and helped develop Native Councils and formed a flying club. In 1974 she was appointed assistant to Auxiliary Board member Ray Hudson and in 1977 she was appointed Auxiliary Board member herself. In 1980 she was appointed Counsellor and she was appointed for a second term in 1985 which she served until being appointed to the International Teaching Center in 1988.
