The Central American One Year Plan (1952-1953) was given by Shoghi Effendi to the Regional Spiritual Assembly of Central America. The Assembly adopted its own goals based on general advice from the Guardian.[1]
Goals[edit]
Shoghi Effendi provided the following advice for the aims of the Central American Assembly:
- To establish harmony, love and understanding among the Bahá'ís
- To promote the teaching work
- To win support for the National Bahá'í Fund
- To assure publication of Bahá'í literature in well-translated Spanish editions in cooperation with the National Spiritual Assembly of South America.
Outcomes[edit]
- A member of the Assembly visited each principal community of each country administrated by the Assembly.
- Two National Teaching Committees were formed, one for Spanish and the other for English and French teaching. An Indian Teaching Committee tasked with teaching the Faith to Native Americans was also established. A Bahá'í Cultural Institute was established in Chichicastenango, Guatemala, and a Bahá'í School was held outside Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
- Appeals for support for the National Fund were made in Noticias, the official news organ of the Assembly.
- Steps were taken to consolidate translation efforts and secure qualified translators.
