- April 21 - 23: The First International Convention is held in Haifa at which the Universal House of Justice is elected for the first time by representatives of fifty-six National Spiritual Assemblies. [1]
- April 23: The Universal House of Justice sends two Hands of the Cause as a delegation to the State funeral of former President of Israel, Izhak Ben Zvi, in Jerusalem. This is its first official act.[2]
- April 28 - May 2: The First Bahá’í World Congress is held at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
- June 16: The Universal House of Justice announces that it is using the Western Pilgrim House as its Seat with the western and eastern pilgrims to no longer be housed separately.[3]
- September 18: The Bahá’í Faith is officially registered as a religion in Finland.[4]
- December 13: All Bahá’í prisoners of "The Moroccan Case" were set free by decision of the Moroccan Supreme Court after some twenty months.
