  • January 20 - 25: The first Bahá’í Teaching Conference in Latin America is held in Panama City on the instructions of Shoghi Effendi.[1]
  • April 11: William Sutherland Maxwell begins work on plans for the superstructure of the Shrine of the Báb on the instructions of Shoghi Effendi.[2]
  • June: Rita Marshall becomes the first native of St. Vincent to become a Bahá’í while in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.[1]
  • August 5: The Bahá’í Faith is officially registered as a religious organization in Haiti.[1]
  • November 22: Shoghi Effendi privately advises Amelia Collins he is appointing her a Hand of the Cause although he does not publicly make an announcement until 1951.[1]
