- 1849: The Battle of Fort Ṭabarsí is mentioned in the Journal de Constantinople; it is among the first direct mentions of the Báb in the contemporary press.
- 1888: Edward Granville Browne gives a talk on 'Bábism' at the Essay Society in Newcastle, England.
- 1942: Louise and Joseph Sawyer host an interracial reception for Ruth Moffett and Esther Sego, the first racially integrated meeting among the Bahá'ís of North Carolina.[1] While the newspaper didn't say so, it was in fact an interracial meeting - the first Moffett knew of among Bahá'ís of North Carolina.[2]
