Thirteenth International Convention

The Thirteenth International Convention was held in Haifa from April 29 to May 2, 2023.
Summary[edit]
The Convention was attended by approximately 1,250 delegates representing 176 countries.[1] The delegates arrived a few days prior to the Convention to visit the Bahá’í Shrines in Haifa and ‘Akká spiritually preparing for the election of the Universal House of Justice.[2] Voting took place on April 29 and a celebration of the Festival of Ridvan was held the same day.[3] For the first time there was a tied vote and a tie-breaker election was held on the afternoon of April 30,[4] with the election results being announced on May 1.[5]
For the remainder of the Convention various consultation sessions were held to allow for delegates to consult on the capacity building processes in their Bahá’í communities and contributions to the spiritual, moral, and material advancement made by the Bahá’í community with the institute process being prominent in discussions.[6] During the Convention a reception was held in Haifa for religious leaders of other Faith communities and the Mayor of Haifa to share the Bahá’í electoral process.[7]
The Convention concluded with a commemoration of the Twelfth Day of Ridvan at the Shrine of Bahá’u’lláh.[8]
