Tenth International Convention

Summary[edit]
The Convention was attended by one thousand delegates representing one hundred and fifty-three out of one hundred and sixty-six National Spiritual Assemblies.[1] The delegates arrived prior to the Convention and were able to visit Bahjí and the other holy sites in Israel.[2]
On the first day of the Convention the election was held with delegates submitting their ballots, including mail ballots for the approximately five hundred delegates who were unable to attend in person, over a three hour period. Nineteen tellers appointed by the Universal House of Justice on their arrival to Haifa from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, France, Guinea, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Jamaica, the Marshall Islands, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Taiwan, Turkey, Uganda, the United Kingdom, the United States, Vanuatu, and Zambia counted the votes in the counting room at the Seat of the Universal House of Justice.[3]
During the Convention there was discussion of how the four core activities; children's classes, devotional meetings, study circles, and programs for teenagers, were beginning to yield results, particularly in India and Colombia.[4] Ridván was celebrated at Bahjí during the Convention with two thousand people attending.[5]
