Seventh International Convention

The Seventh International Convention held to elect the Universal House of Justice was held from April 29 to May 2, 1993.
Summary[edit]
As of 1993 there were 165 National Spiritual Assemblies representing Bahá’í communities across the world and 146 were able to send representatives to the Holy Land to take part in the Convention with 733 delegates attending in person and 690 sending postal votes for the election of the Universal House of Justice.[1] The delegates arrived five days prior to the Convention to visit the Holy Shrines in preparation for their participation,[2] and 130 specialized consultation meetings for Assemblies and other national bodies were held during the preparatory five days.[3]
Rúḥíyyih Khánum opened the Convention on April 29 and the election was held immediately afterwards.[3] Also during the first day the progress of construction on Mount Carmel was presented by Hossein Amanat and Fariborz Sahba.[4] On April 30 the results of the election were announced and the members were presented to the Convention. Throughout the rest of the Convention several plenary consultation sessions were held in the Haifa Auditorium during the Convention allowing for consultation between the delegates, the three living Hands of the Cause, the members of the International Teaching Center, and Continental Counselors.[2] Major topics of consultation were Ḥuqúqu’lláh which was brought into effect globally the previous year,[3] and the Three Year Plan launched that year.[5]
