Dr. Firaydoun Javaheri is a Persian Bahá’í who served as a member of the Universal House of Justice.

Background[edit]

Javaheri was born in Iran in 1946 and in his youth he completed a doctorate in agronomy. In the 1970's he moved to Africa first settling in Gambia and then moving to Zambia and he was employed as the Chief Technical Adviser for the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations.[1]

In 1976 Javaheri was appointed as an Auxiliary Board member for Africa and he served in the role until 1995 when he was appointed to the Continental Board of Counsellors for Africa.[1] In 1998 he was appointed to the International Teaching Center and moved to the Holy Land to serve on the body and in 2003 he was elected to the Universal House of Justice.[1]

In 2017 Javaheri requested permission to retire from the House of Justice and he completed his service on the body in 2018.[2]
