A conference is any meeting in which people come together to "confer", or discuss/consult on something. Bahá'í conferences may be preceded by a qualifying term, e.g. "teaching" or "continental", to identify in general terms the purpose or breadth of the conference. Alternatively, the word "conference" may be followed by a descriptive phrase. For example, every five years, the Universal House of Justice calls a Conference of the Continental Boards of Counsellors, to discuss the forthcoming Plan.
