A musical performance at the Eleventh International Convention.
  • Ramchand Coonjul, Antonella Demonte, Andrej Donoval, Alison Milston and Mehranguiz Farid Tehrani are appointed to serve at the International Teaching Centre.
  • April 29: The Eleventh International Convention takes place at the Bahá'í World Center.
    • Chuungu Malitonga and Ayman Rouhani are newly elected to serve on the Universal House of Justice.
  • July–October: The 114 Youth Conferences, called for by the Universal House of Justice in February, take place around the world.
  • December: Property for the local House of Worship for Norte del Cauca, Colombia is acquired.
  • December 3: Yemeni Baha’i Hamed bin Haydara is arbitrarily arrested at his workplace.[1]

  • March 5: Mas’ud Khamsi, former Counsellor member of the International Teaching Centre, in Lima, Peru.
  • August 13: Hushmand Fatheazam, former member of the Universal House of Justice, passes away.
  • August 24: Ataollah Rezvani, a Bahá’í from Bandar Abbas, Iran, is shot and killed in his car. A few years before his murder, the Friday prayer Imam had incited the local population against the Bahá’ís, referring to them as "un-Islamic." He further called on the people of the city to "rise up" against the Bahá’í community.[3]
