1847 was a common year of the Gregorian calendar and a common year of the Julian calendar, the 1847th year of the Common Era (CE), the 47th year of the 19th century, and the 8th year of the 1840s decade. As of the start of 1847, the Gregorian calendar was 12 days ahead of the Julian calendar, which remained in localized use until 1923. 1847 corresponds to the years 3–4 of the Bahá'í Era (BE) according to the Badi calendar.
Events[edit]

- February: Gurgín Khán succeeds Manúchihr Khán as Governor of Isfahán and informs the Sháh that the Báb had been staying in Manúchihr Khán's home. The Sháh orders that the Báb be sent to Tihran incognito, and He is escorted out of Isfahán.
- March 20 - 23: The Báb is a guest of Hájí Mírzá Jání in Káshán for three nights while travelling to Tihran. Jání becomes a Bábí.[1]
- March 28: Hájí Mírzá Áqásí, the Prime Minister of Persia, sends word to the Bábs escort at Fort Kinár-Gird that He should be taken to Kulayn instead of Tihran, and kept there until further notice. They arrive in Kulayn the next day and stay there for twenty days.
- July: The Sháh has the Báb imprisoned in the fortress of Máh-Kú in Ádharbáyján. The Báb receives a letter and gifts sent by Bahá'u'lláh shortly after arriving.
- August: Mullá Husayn sets out for Máh-Kú from Mashhad on foot, in order to make pilgrimage to the Báb.
- October: The Uncle of Táhirih is assassinated and she is accused of being involved. She is arrested and sent to Tihran along with other suspects.
- November: Bahá'u'lláh meets with Táhirih in Tihran. One of the suspects confesses to the murder of Táhirih's Uncle but escapes before facing justice. Bahá'u'lláh is briefly imprisoned on suspicion of being involved with the escape, and several of the other suspects are executed by relatives of Táhirihs Uncle.
