1845 was a common year of the Gregorian calendar and a common year of the Julian calendar, the 1845th year of the Common Era (CE), the 45th year of the 19th century, and the 6th year of the 1840s decade. As of the start of 1845, the Gregorian calendar was 12 days ahead of the Julian calendar, which remained in localized use until 1923. 1845 corresponds to the years 1–2 of the Bahá'í Era (BE) according to the Badi calendar.

Events[edit]

  • January 16: The Báb arrives in Medina, where He stays for 27 days.
  • February 12: The Báb leaves Medina and travels to Jiddah.
  • February 19: A Bedouin steals several Tablets from the Báb in the course of His journey to Jiddah.[1]
  • February 12: The Báb arrives in Jiddah.[2]
  • February 27: The Báb boards a ship and departs Jiddah.
  • March 4: The Báb sets sails to Búshihr but stops in Muscat for two months.[2]
  • April 16: Mullá `Alíy-i-Bastámí is sent from Baghdad to Istanbul and sentenced to hard labour on the Imperial docks.
  • May 15: The Báb arrives in Búshihr on return from His pilgrimage.[3]
  • June 23: Mulla Sádiq-i-Muqaddas and Quddús alter the Call to Prayer while leading a congregation in Shíráz, in accordance to instructions from the Báb. They, along with Mullá ‘Alí-Akbar-i-Ardistání, are arrested, tortured and then expelled from the city on June 23.
  • June 30: The Báb travels to Shíráz from Búshihr. He is stopped by a group of soldiers near Dálakí and escorted to Shíráz.
  • July 7: The Báb arrives in Shíráz. He is publicly interrogated by the Governor of and Shíráz, struck in the face, and placed under house arrest.
  • July: Táhirih, a Letter of the Living, takes the role of leader of the Bábí community in Karbalá. She teaches that the Shaykhí school of Islam has been abrogated by the Báb's Revelation.
  • July: Hájí Mírzá Karím Khán, leader of the Shaykhí school of Islam, expels several Bábís from Kirman and begins publishing polemic literature critical of the Báb.
  • November 1: The London Times publishes an article reporting the expulsion of Mulla Sádiq and Quddús from Shíráz. See Historical mentions of the Bábí/Bahá'í Faiths
  • December 30: The Birth of the Báb takes place on the first day of the Mourning of Muharram. Táhirih instructs the Bábís of Karbalá to celebrate the Birth of the Báb, which results in her being expelled from the city.
