Nauru, officially the Republic of Nauru and previously known as Pleasant Island, is an island state in the South Pacific Ocean. It lies in the Micronesia subregion of Oceania with Kiribati to the east, the Caroline Islands to the north, Melanesia to the south, and Papua New Guinea some distance to the west. The island has a total area of only 21 square kilometers (8.1 sq. mi.). It is the third smallest country in the world.

History[edit]

Nauru was assigned to ... in 1953.

In 1959, Nauru was included in the National Spiritual Assembly of the South Pacific Islands.

In 1964, when the National Assembly of the South Pacific Islands was dissolved, Nauru was assigned to the National Spiritual Assembly of the South Pacific Ocean.[2]

In 1967, when the National Spiritual Assembly of the Gilbert and Ellice Islands was formed, Nauru was assigned to it.[3]

In 1970, when the National Assembly of the South Pacific Ocean was dissolved, Nauru was assigned to the National Spiritual Assembly of Kiribati.

In October 1986, it was advertised that there were job openings in Nauru for a director of civil aviation and a director of telecommunications. The ad mentioned that it was difficult to gain entry to the country but these jobs offer such an opportunity.[4]

From June of 1993 to 2000, Nauru was an established community, but there were frequent listings of the need for pioneers and travel teachers in Three Year Plan (1993-1996).[5] Again in 1997, it was advertised the Nauru was in need of pioneers to stimulate growth and help open new centers.[6]
