WikiProject Works is a coordinated effort to create and maintain quality articles on books, music, films and other works related to the Bahá'í Faith on Bahaipedia and related projects.
Scope[edit]
This WikiProject concerns itself with the creation and maintenance of Bahaipedia articles related to books, music, films and other works. The articles with which this project deals should all be included in Category:Works or one of its subcategories. The bulk of these articles should describe individual creative works or series of creative works.
Biographies of creators[edit]
Bahaipedia includes standalone articles on some of the most notable Authors; these fall under the scope of WikiProject Biography and should follow the guidelines of that WikiProjects as well as general site policy. Because the number of authors, musicians, filmmakers and artists is potentially quite large, standalone articles on creators are generally not in the scope of Bahaipedia. Per our guidelines on project scope, biographical articles should be restricted to:
- Members of institutions responsible for national or worldwide communities (ex.: Hands of the Cause, Counsellors, or members of the Universal House of Justice or National Spiritual Assemblies;
- Any historical figure who is notable for their relationship to the Faith (ex.: E. G. Browne, Wellesley Tudor Pole).
- Any Bahá’í in good standing who is notable for their contributions to scholarship (ex: Mírzá Abu’l-Faḍl, Moojan Momen, William Hatcher).
Authors and creators who meet any of these criteria qualify for a standalone biographical article on Bahaipedia. In some cases, it may be appropriate to include brief biographical descriptions on articles about individual works.
On the other hand, our sister project Bahai.works contains standalone articles listing the works of all authors whose works are featured on that project, and more in some cases. Thus, if an author does not qualify for a standalone biography on Bahaipedia, their works may still be listed with a short biographical summary at Bahai.works.
To illustrate, Rúḥíyyih Khánum has both a biographical article on Bahaipedia and a list of works on Bahai.works, due to her notability as the wife of the Guardian and role as Hand of the Cause. On the other hand, the author "N.D.B." is only known due to a single contribution to an issue of World Order magazine; though they most likely fail to qualify for a standalone biography on Bahaipedia, their single work is still listed at Bahai.works.
Goals[edit]
To create, expand, and maintain articles related to creative and published works. This will specifically include those articles contained within the Category:Works.
Special attention will be given to articles about the Sacred Writings of the Faith, i.e. those articles found in Category:Sacred Writings of the Bahá’í Faith and its subcategories.
The work of this WikiProject also spans several other projects, including Bahai.works and Bahaidata. Data about works (titles, authors, ISBN numbers, etc.) can be entered into Bahaidata; this data can then be used to populate pages on Bahai.works and templates on Bahaipedia.
One long-term goal of this WikiProject will be to incorporate appropriate library classifications into articles about written works.
Vision[edit]
The overall vision of this project is to increase the usefulness of Bahaipedia and its family of websites to researchers by making it easier to find and cross-reference information about Bahá’í works.
