- April: Mírzá Yahyá comes out of hiding in Mazíndarán and travels to Baghdád. Bahá'u'lláh tells His family to show him hospitality.
- April 10: Bahá'u'lláh leaves Baghdad for the mountains of Kurdistán due to disunity in the Bábí community. He goes by the name Darvish Muhammad-i-Írání.
