1857 was a common year of the Gregorian calendar and a common year of the Julian calendar, the 1857th year of the Common Era (CE), the 57th year of the 19th century, and the 8th year of the 1850s decade. As of the start of 1857, the Gregorian calendar was 12 days ahead of the Julian calendar, which remained in localized use until 1923. 1857 corresponds to the years 13–14 of the Bahá'í Era (BE) according to the Badi calendar.
