The National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of the Virgin Islands is the national administrative body responsible for the Bahá’í communities of the islands making up the Virgin Islands (US Virgin Islands and British Virgin Islands).
History[edit]
In 1951, responsibility for developing the Virgin Islands was given to the National Assembly of Central America, Mexico and the Antilles. In 1961, the National Spiritual Assembly of the Dominican Republic was assigned the Virgin Islands for development.[1] In 1964, the National Assembly of the United States was given the responsibility to develop the Virgin Islands.[2] In 1967, the responsibility was passed to the National Assembly of the Leeward, Windward and Virgin Islands.[3] In 1972, the National Assembly of the Leeward, Windward and Virgin Islands was split and the Virgin Islands were assigned to the National Spiritual Assembly of the Leeward and Virgin Islands.[4]
The National Spiritual Assembly of the Virgin Islands was established in 1981.[5][6] The jurisdiction of the National Assembly covered both the British Virgin Islands and U.S. Virgin Islands.
