  • 1912: A farewell banquet is held for `Abdu'l-Bahá at the Great Northern Hotel in New York City; sadly, the hotel does not allow the black Bahá’ís to attend.
  • 1932: George Adam Benke dies in Sofia, Bulgaria. Shoghi Effendi calls him the first European martyr.
  • 1963: At the request of the Universal House of Justice, Bahá’ís around the world pray at the Feast of Qawl for Bahá’ís imprisoned in Morocco. Shortly after the Feast the Moroccan Supreme Court heard the appeals, reversed the decision of the trial court and ordered the release of the prisoners.
  • 1992: The Second Bahá’í World Congress (pictured) begins in New York City.
