Abol-Ghasim Shayegh

Abol-Ghasim Shayegh (1939 - March 3, 1987) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.
Biography[edit]
Shayegh was born in Tehran. He completed primary and high school then enrolled in Tehran University where he completed a history degree. After graduating he began working for the Iranian Ministry of Finance and remained employed by the Ministry until being dismissed due to being a Bahá’í as a result of the Iranian Revolution which began in 1979.[1]
On February 13, 1984, Shayegh was imprisoned. He was held in both Evin Prison and Gohardasht Prison and was kept in solitary confinement for several months before being executed at Evin on March 3, 1987. His family was not informed of his execution at the time it took place and his body was not returned to the family for burial.[1]
