- December 10: Formation of the first Local Spiritual Assembly in Canada in Montreal.
- First publication of Promulgation of Universal Peace, a compilation of talks given by ‘Abdu’l-Bahá in America and Canada.[1]
Ascension of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá[edit]
- January 3: The Will and Testament of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá is read aloud for the first time, to a group of nine men, mainly senior members of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá's family. They are made aware that Shoghi Effendi, who is not present at the reading, is appointed as the Guardian of the Bahá’í Faith.
- January 6: A memorial feast for 600 people of Haifa, ‘Akká and the surrounding area is held 40 days after ‘Abdu’l-Bahá's passing. More than a hundred poor are also fed.
- January 7: The Will and Testament of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá is read publicly at His house to an assembled gathering of Bahá’ís from many countries. Shoghi Effendi is again absent.
- January 7: Bahíyyih Khánum sends two cables to Persia, informing the Bahá’ís that Shoghi Effendi has been appointed Guardian and instructing them to hold memorial services for ‘Abdu’l-Bahá.
- January 16: Bahíyyih Khánum cables the United States, informing the Bahá’ís that Shoghi Effendi has been appointed Guardian.
