- February 25: Edward G. Browne mentions the Bahá’í Faith as part of a series academic talks and papers in England throughout 1889.
- June: Áqá Najafí, the `Son of the Wolf', initiates a campaign against the Bahá'ís in Isfahán, Sidih and Najafábád.
- July 17: Over one hundred Bahá'ís are forced out of Sidih and Najafábád due to the efforts of Áqá Najafí. They stay in the Telegraph Office and stables of the Governor of Isfahán.
- July 18: The Bahá'ís leave Isfahán for the surrounding villages after being promised protection.
- August: The Bahá'ís petition the Sháh after receiving no protection.
