- Bahá’u’lláh completes the revealing of the Kitáb-i-Aqdas, the Most Holy Book.
- Ibn-i-Abhar is arrested in Tihrán because of his religion, and imprisoned for fourteen months and fifteen days.
- March 1: Bahá'u'lláh reveals the Lawh-i-Rú'yá (the Tablet of Vision).
- March 8: ‘Abdu’l-Bahá marries Munírih Khánum.
- March: Ilyás `Abbúd offers a room in his house for ‘Abdu’l-Bahá and Munírih Khánum to live in. As his house is connected to the house of `Údí Khammár where Bahá'u'lláh is living, this only requires a doorway being placed in a dividing wall.
- November/December: The house of `Abbúd, which is connected to the house of `Údí Khammár, is purchased on behalf of Bahá'u'lláh and He moves His residence there.
