The National Spiritual Assembly of West Africa was a regional body responsible for administrating Bahá’í communities across West Africa.

History[edit]

The National Spiritual Assembly of West Africa was formed with its seat in Monrovia, Liberia, in 1964 and it was responsible for administrating the Bahá’ís of Liberia, Senegal, the Gambia, Portugese Guinea, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Mali, Upper Volta, Ivory Coast and the Cape Verde Islands.[1]

The jurisdiction of the Assembly changed in 1970 when the National Assembly of Upper West Africa was formed with Senegal, Guinea and Mauritania falling under the new Assemblies jurisdiction.[2] In 1975 the Assembly split into the National Spiritual Assembly of Liberia & Guinea and the National Spiritual Assembly of Sierra Leone.[3]
