The National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of Upper West Africa was a regional administrative body responsible for the Bahá’í communities of several African nations.
History[edit]
The National Spiritual Assembly of Upper West Africa was established in 1970. It was elected by delegates from the Gambia, Senegal and Mauritania.[1]
In 1975 Gambia formed an independent National Spiritual Assembly, and the jurisdiction of the Assembly of Upper West Africa was changed to comprise of Senegal, Mauritania, Guinea-Bissau and the Cape Verde Islands.[2] Although initially the name Upper West Africa was kept, the Assembly was renamed the National Spiritual Assembly of Senegal shortly after the change in jurisdiction.[3]
