History[edit]

The National Spiritual Assembly of the United States and Canada decided that Alaska, Hawaii and all United States territories should eventually have independent administrative bodies in 1927.[1] The establishment of an independent National Spiritual Assembly in Alaska was a goal of the Western Hemisphere Teaching Committee as of 1953.[2]

The goal was achieved when the National Spiritual Assembly of Alaska was established at the first Alaskan Convention in April 1957.[3] Paul Haney was in attendance and opened the Convention, reading a message from Shoghi Effendi.[4]
