Messages from the Universal House of Justice, 1968-1973

Messages from the Universal House of Justice, 1968-1973 is a compilation of messages from the Universal House of Justice published in 1976 by the Bahá’í Publishing Trust of the United States.
It served as a sequel to the previous compilation Wellspring of Guidance published in 1969 and duplicates some of its contents for chronological continuity.[1] Both volumes have been superseded by the publication Messages from the Universal House of Justice, 1963-1986 published in 1996.[2]
Background[edit]
The compilation collects messages issued by the Universal House of Justice from Ridvan 1968 to Ridvan 1973. Its contents cover the developments of the second half of the Nine Year Plan and general guidance, advice, and comments on questions of the Bahá’í community in the period covered.[3] All but three of the messages had been publicly published previously however the compilation served as an easier reference text for the Bahá’í community.[1]
The publication includes a foreword written by the National Spiritual Assembly of the United States and the messages compiled were addressed to National Spiritual Assemblies and the Bahá’ís of the world generally, two were addressed to the Continental Counsellors and National Spiritual Assemblies, one was addressed to the Bahá’í youth of the world, and one letter to an individual was included due to its contents being of general applicability to the Bahá’í world.[1]
