Mahmúd Furúhar

Mahmúd Furúhar (1917 - May 8, 1982) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.
Biography[edit]
Furúhar was born into a Bahá’í family in Abadih in 1917. In his professional career he became an accountant and was employed by the National Oil Company working from Tehran. At some point he married fellow Bahá’í Ishráqíyyih and in 1970 he retired and they pioneered to Gohardasht where they where elected to the Local Spiritual Assembly.[1]
On August 1, 1981, the Furúhar'swere arrested when their home was raided and Mahmúd was imprisoned in the Kanun-i-Javanan prison. He was transferred to Qeal-Hesar prison but later transferred back to Kanun-i-Javanan. He was tortured while imprisoned and then executed by firing squad on May 8, 1982 alongside his wife and Badí’u’lláh Haqpaykar. Their bodies were returned to their families an they were buried with a Bahá’í funeral.[1]
