Ishráqíyyih Furúhar

Ishráqíyyih Furúhar (1924 - May 8, 1982) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.
Biography[edit]
Furúhar was born into a Bahá’í family in Tehran in 1924. At some point she married Mahmúd Furúhar and they pioneered to Gohardasht together in 1970 where they were elected to the Local Spiritual Assembly.[1]
On August 1, 1981, the Furúhar's were arrested when their home was raided. Ishráqíyyih was initially imprisoned in a women's prison in Karaj then transferred to the Kanun-e-Javanan prison where her husband was also being held. She was briefly transferred to a police prison but then transferred back to Kanun-e-Javanan. She was tortured during throughout her imprisonment and executed by firing squad on May 8, 1982, alongside her husband and Badí’u’lláh Haqpaykar. Their bodies were returned for burial and they received a Bahá’í funeral.[1]
