Jalál ‘Azízí (1928 - December 27, 1981) was a Persian Bahá’í who served on the National Spiritual Assembly of Iran. He was martyred following the Iranian Revolution in 1979.
Biography[edit]
‘Azízí was born into a Bahá’í family in Tehran in 1928. He completed his schooling in Iran then attended a German university living in Freiburg during his studies. He completed a degree in economics and law then returned to Iran.[1]
‘Azízí settled in Tehran after returning, established his own business, and got married. In 1979 he was elected to the Local Spiritual Assembly of Tehran a body his brother, Iskandar, also served on. In 1980 he was elected to the National Spiritual Assembly when the community of Iran reformed the body after the previous membership was abducted at a meeting.[1]
On December 13, 1981, ‘Azízí was arrested at an Assembly meeting along with all but one of his fellow Assembly members and he was martyred on December 27. His body was not returned to his family.[1]
