House of the Báb

The House of the Báb was a property in Shiraz which was the residence of the Báb during His lifetime prior to His Declaration and subsequent Persecution. The Báb referred to it in His Writings and Bahá’u’lláh designated it as a pilgrimage site in the Kitáb-i-Aqdas, however pilgrimage is now impossible as the building was destroyed during the 1979 Revolution in Iran.
Significance[edit]
The Báb referred to the spiritual importance of the House in the Qayyumu’l-Asma’, the Persian Báyan, the Arabic Báyan, and the Tablet to Khál Akbar regarded as His Will and Testament.[1] Bahá’u’lláh designated the House as a pilgrimage site and revealed instructions for how pilgrimage was to be conducted in a Tablet now known as the Súriy-i-Ḥajj,[2] and affirmed completion of it as a Bahá’í law in the Kitáb-i-Aqdas although the law has not yet been made binding by the Universal House of Justice.[3]
