Hasan Mahboubi (April 17, 1913 - July 21, 1992) was a Persian Bahá’í who pioneered to Yemen and served on the National Spiritual Assembly of Iran.
Biography[edit]
Mahboubi was born in Isfahan in 1913. His father passed in 1917 and his mother passed in 1925 and he was raised by his aunt. In 1938 he married and in 1939 he secured a position working for the Melli Bank although he was later dismissed from his position due to being a Bahá’í.[1] In 1953 Mahboubi pioneered to Yemen where he lived in Aden. At some point he returned to Iran and in 1982 he was elected to the National Spiritual Assembly of Iran when the body was re-established after the previous membership was martyred. He served on the body until 1983 when Bahá’í Administrative institutions were banned in Iran.[1]
After the National Assembly was disbanded Mahboubi and two other Bahá’ís continued to support the Bahá’ís of the country forming a committee in 1984, later known as the Yárán, to coordinate their efforts and he served on the committee until his passing. In 1987 he was arrested with the other members of the committee but released after a short time.[2] In 1992 Mahboubi was hit by a car in a suspicious hit and run incident and the driver of the vehicle was never identified.[3] He was hospitalized but passed away on July 21, 1992.[1]
