Habíbu’lláh ‘Azízí

Habíbu’lláh ‘Azízí (1915 - August 29, 1981) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.
Biography[edit]
‘Azízí was born into a Bahá’í family in Tehran in 1915. He completed his schooling in Tehran, partly at the Bahá’í run Tarbiyat School, then studied Persian Literature at Tehran University. He then completed his compulsory military service, established a career in business, and married in 1947.[1]
In 1969 ‘Azízí moved to Bournemouth, England, with his family although he made annual visits back to Iran to see his mother and other family members often staying for several months. On June 17, 1980, he was arrested two days after arriving in Iran to visit his family and imprisoned in Evin Prison. He was executed by firing squad on August 29, 1981, and his family only learnt of his death when it was reported in the newspaper.[1]
He was buried by his family with a Bahá’í funeral. After his execution his eighty-six year old mother and his two sisters and their husbands were arrested and detained for some time.[1]
