1908 was a leap year of the Gregorian calendar and a leap year of the Julian calendar, the 1908th year of the Common Era (CE), the 8th year of the 20th century, and the 9th year of the 1900s decade. - The outer structure of the Mashriqu'l-Adhkár in `Ishqábád is completed and the dome is in place.
- March: Some Answered Questions is published in English.
- April 9: Two building plots in Wilmette are purchased by the American Bahá'í community for a future Mashriqu'l-Adhkár.
- April 25: Charles Mason Remey and Sidney Sprague sail from New York for Iran and Russia.
- April 25: Tá`irih Khánum, a Bahá'í woman, hosts a meeting in Tihrán where women remove their veils. She receives the address of Isabella Brittingham at the meeting and begins correspondence with her.
- August 31: ‘Abdu’l-Bahá is released from a lifetime of exile and imprisonment at 64 years of age.
- September: The Bahá'í Publishing Society is founded in Chicago.
- September: Bahá'í Bulletin, a Bahá'í Periodical, begins publication. It is renamed Bahá'í News in 1909 and Star of the West in 1910.
