1904 was a leap year of the Gregorian calendar and a leap year of the Julian calendar, the 1904th year of the Common Era (CE), the 4th year of the 20th century, and the 5th year of the 1900s decade. As of the start of 1904, the Gregorian calendar was 13 days ahead of the Julian calendar, which remained in localized use until 1923. 1904 corresponds to the years 60–61 of the Bahá'í Era (BE) according to the Badi calendar.

Ali Kuli Khan, early translator of the Bahá'í writings.
  • Ali Kuli Khan translates the Kitáb-i-Íqán into English.[1]
  • Bahá'í Martyrdoms in Persia in the Year 1903 AD, written by Hájí Mírzá Haydar-Alí Isfaháni at the request of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, is published in English. It was translated by Youness Afroukhteh..
  • The Board of Counsel of New York (a precursor to the Local Spiritual Assembly) publishes a compilation of Bahá'í writings translated into English.
  • Laura Clifford Barney visits 'Akká, and asks ‘Abdu’l-Bahá several questions. She takes notes of his answers, which are corrected by ‘Abdu’l-Bahá and later published as Some Answered Questions.
  • October 28: Ali Kuli Khan marries Florence Breed, the first marriage between a Persian and a Western Bahá'í.
  • December: Mírzá Abu'l-Fadl leaves the United States, having lived there to deepen the community for some time.
  • December 1: Sidney Sprague, an American Bahá'í, begins a travel teaching tour of India.
