‘Ináyatu’lláh Ishráqí

‘Ináyatu’lláh Ishráqí (January 10, 1922 - June 16, 1983) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.

Biography[edit]

Ishráqí was born into a Bahá’í family in Najafabad in 1922. After completing his schooling he began a career working for the National Oil Company of Iran, and in his personal life he married ‘Izzat Jánamí in 1947 with whom he had five children.[1] He was an active member of the Bahá’í community and after retiring from his professional career he settled in Shiraz where he was elected to the Local Spiritual Assembly.[2]

On November 29, 1982, Ishráqí's home was raided and he, his wife ‘Izzat, and daughter Ru’yá, were arrested. He was executed alongside five fellow Bahá’í's on June 16, 1983, and his wife and daughter were also executed two days later. Their bodies were not returned for burial.[2]
