‘Abdu’lláh Mesbah (1910 - October 12, 2000) was a Persian Bahá’í who served in the Holy Land assisting with the establishment of the Research Department.
Biography[edit]
Mesbah was born into a Bahá’í family in Tehran, Iran, in 1910. His father was ‘Azíz’u’lláh Mesbah and his mother was Qudsiyyih ‘Alá’í. He was an active member of the Bahá’í community in his youth serving on the Translation Committee and the National Youth Committee.[1]
In 1931 Mesbah moved to France to study mathematics at university and he returned to Iran in 1935 after graduating. He pioneered to Iraq from 1943 to 1945 then returned to Iran again until 1954 when he pioneered to Belgium. As of 1957 he had pioneered to Morocco and that year he was elected to the National Spiritual Assembly of North West Africa.[2] He was later appointed as an Auxiliary Board member for Africa by Hand of the Cause Músá Banání.[3]
In his professional career Mesbah served as a professor of mathematics at universities at his pioneer posts.[1] He was still serving on the National Assembly for North West Africa as of 1963 however he submitted a postal vote for the first election of the Universal House of Justice and did not attend the First International Convention.[4]
At some point Mesbah pioneered to Lebanon where he lived until 1968 when he was invited to serve in the Holy Land to help with the establishment of the Research Department. He assisted with the development of the body until 1988 when he departed the Holy Land and moved to the Netherlands. In 1998 he moved to France where he passed away in Saint-Louis in 2000.[5]
