In 1973, he married Alison Ewing (Wright) and they moved to South Carolina where he co-founded a diversity training company in 1987.[1]

In 1995 the Universal House of Justice appointed Ewing to the Continental Board for the Americas for a five year term as Counselor.[2] In 2007 he co-founded the Race Story ReWrite Project,[1] which is a non-profit organization dedicated to racial justice work.[3] As of 2011 he was serving on the Local Spiritual Assembly of Washington, D.C.[4]
