The Way Out of the Dead End

In the Federal Republic of Germany, Franz Alt's best-selling book 'Peace is Possible' has given rise to a 'peace debate' drawing on ideas from Western thought in general and Christianity in particular.
Now Huschmand Sabet, born and brought up in the heart of Shí'í Islam, looks at the possibility of peace from a different point of view: that of the Bahá’í world community based on the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh. 'It is not his to boast who loveth his country, but it is his who loveth the world.'
Peace on earth, the greatest achievement in the history of mankind is, the author believes, divinely willed. We cannot attain this goal through minimal demands for short term solutions to the problems of disarmament alone, but only through a general solution: 'The world is but one country and mankind its citizens.'
We must make a great leap forward from the idea of unfettered sovereignty of national states to the principle of a world federation based on the consciousness of the unity of mankind - a consciousness born and created of the knowledge that all religions are essentially one, their founders all from God.
