The Last Day is "An Exploration of Humankind's Spiritual History and Destiny". Although it is not specifically stated on the cover, the book is written for English-speaking Muslims, and is specifically tailored for them. It analyses statements in the Qur'án and works towards an understanding of what is meant in the Qur'án by the phrase "the Last Day". It sets out to widen the horizons of any believing Muslim as to the other divinely-ordained religions, and also looks at the wisdom of movements such as Taoism. Both in the beginning and in the end sections of the book, the concentration is on quotations from the Qur'án and from the more trusted works of hadith. The author finally analyses the most well-known modern candidates for the Promised One, and concludes that except for the Báb and Bahá'u'lláh, none of them fulfil the criteria.
