Talk:Spiritual Pursuit
From Bahaipedia
I have just been told that there is a suggestion that the article on the game "Spiritual Pursuit" should be deleted. I find this very strange. I would have thought that a game of this sort, which promoted knowledge of the Faith, should be recorded in Bahaipedia for posterity. The second edition of the game has now sold out, and there is absolutely no intention of producing any further editions.

- Hi Southamite. The problem with this article is not that it exists, but that the person who benefits from it directly is the one who wrote it. This is known as a conflict of interest and it hurts the integrity of the project. It would be like going to cnn.com, reading what you thought was an impartial news report about a product, only to find out it was written by the company itself. If an "impartial" source like that was including fluff/PR and passing it off as news among their regular content with no disclosure that would be considered deceptive. To be kept the article would need to be rewritten by someone neutral and unconnected to the publisher/producer of the game; the notice to delete gives anyone who is currently participating on Bahaipedia the opportunity to take up that task, but if not it will be deleted. I appreciate your concern, but you are not the person who can fix this issue. David (talk) 16:06, 10 November 2023 (PST)
- Perhaps. The reason I added books back when this project started was because I noticed it was difficult to find information on them once they went out of stock and stopped being distributed, though I never kept up with adding new books or establishing any kind of criteria for inclusion. The pages were meant to serve the purpose recording what had been produced, by who and when. But, bahai.works is doing something similar (though covering only historical non fiction) so I don't know if there is a whole lot of value in such a list/record here. If there is the pages should be corrected and expanded, but if not they can be deleted. I'd like to hear from others however before making any decision about it. - At the Spanish wiki I keep a record of all referenced books in the Referencias (References) page. That way books may have a page of their own, but not simply for reference purposes. Ernobe (talk) 04:37, 12 November 2023 (PST)
