Incorporating content from the article Politics[edit]
Some of the content and references from the article Politics has been used to create the first draft of this article.
I am now adding references and content which were not included in the article. If there are errors summaries, wording, in citation templates, please let me know or even better, implement the changes if you have time. Thank you.Oceanflynn (talk) 13:40, 15 November 2023 (PST)
- The article is looking great so far, I was going to look over the citations but it looks like you fixed them all. Just a note for you and anyone else we have an article titled Loyalty to government so perhaps we should consider merging that article here? Or separate this article into Political Non-Involvement and move the rest? David (talk) 17:13, 15 November 2023 (PST)
- Makes sense, we may have to be careful so as to avoid scope issues (i.e. several articles all about the same thing). To be honest, I felt that having politics focus on political non-involvement issues and loyalty to government on the specifics of obedience to government made the most sense. @Oceanflynn what do you think? - BTW this is a really nice article, great refs and citations :O Dragfyre (talk) 18:43, 15 November 2023 (PST)
Possible merges and naming[edit]
- Thank you David and Dragfyre for the warm welcome. My first initiative was to focus on politics, as there is so much to cover, including the concept of politics itself. The more I read the references in-detail, the more it seemed that the two—non-involvement in politics and loyalty and obedience to government—are twin principles, so I did use that in the title. At this point—which is still very much at the start of the process—I think I would like to continue to work on ""Non-involvement in politics" as a separate article, with some overlaps and links between the two.
Also, I think the title should be "Non-involvement in politics" not Political non-involvement". What do you think? I am not sure how to rename the article. If we agree on a separate article for these twin principles, could one of you rename it and get rid of all my caps please? :) Oceanflynn (talk) 09:26, 16 November 2023 (PST)
Acknowledgement of 2022 ABS Reading Group presentation[edit]
I would like to acknowledge the work of the 2022 ABS Reading Group's presentation at the 46th Annual Conference, "Our first and sacred obligation: The principle of non-involvement in politics and obedience to government". At this point I have been mainly using their list of references and some quotations. But their deepening questions could also be used for structuring the article, for example, as possible new sections.Oceanflynn (talk) 09:05, 16 November 2023 (PST)
